Opportunity Knocks!

Hey Bookworms! I know we have just chosen a book for this month and scheduled the next meeting but I would like to talk about the next selection. Robin Nolet, author and friend extraordinaire, has offered to let us read her novel before official publication. For just the price of a couple of reviews- and the cost of the book of course! I know this is a stray from the usual method of selection, but I thought this would be a fun opportunity for us. She has offered to potentially join us for the book club meeting. The book being published is the second in the series but she assured me the book will stand alone. I do have one copy of the first in the series if anyone would like to borrow or it is available on Amazon I know. The first book is entitiled The Shell Keeper.

A word from Robin:
I'll try to get a couple print copies, and I think what I'm going to do is a 'soft release' where I offer it on Amazon for the first few days at 99 cents so that my 'Robin's Readers', of which I'd love to include your group, can get it cheaply and read early in the release period.

fyi...if you have already read The Shell Keeper, you'll have more insight into what's happening with the characters, of course, but it is absolutely not necessary to have read the first book in the series in order to enjoy this one. I think it stands on it own just fine. And it's set in wine country...which seems right up the alley of Booze and Bookworm. :)

All I ask is that readers post an 'honest review' on Amazon, by which I mean they shouldn't feel compelled to glow over it, or even put more than a sentence or two, if they like. I don't ask for good or bad, I'm just happy to have all thoughts and opinions, and all help me with my book launch.

If you don't already, you should all post reviews after you read a book. (on Amazon, Goodreads, etc.) As I say in the back pages of my book: Reviews are the grease that keep our little writing world moving...and they are pretty darned nice to have, either way.

Well, hope this helps. Thank you very much for your interest in my book...I hope we can make it work, one way or another.

Have a great day!
Robin ;)

So let me know your opinion about choosing this as our next book to read. Also, if you would like to recieve an email when a blog post is made, sign up on the right hand side of the blog by entering your email address. Happy reading Bookworms!

Meeting Time

Hi Bookworms! I hope you are enjoying this month's book selection. The meeting time and place has been decided! Clarrissa has decided it would be a little too difficult to get us all aboard a cruise ship or yacht, so we will be meeting for lunch instead! But it is seafood so she is definitely on the right track!

Smokin' Fins Restaurant in Downtown Littleton
September 14th at 1130 am

Clarrissa has made reservations so please let either myself or Clarrissa know if you plan to attend our exciting revival meeting! (We will need a head count to adjust the reservation.)

Welcome Back Bookworms!

Greetings Bookworms! I am so excited that Clarissa came to me and asked about resurrecting the book club! (Since she requested, I let her choose the first book.) Let me welcome the newbies interested and remind the returning customers about the details! First and foremost- have fun! The purpose of this club is to get together with coworkers and friends outside of work with the intention of talking about something other than work! Read the book, read half of the book, come to see if you are maybe interested in reading the book and just want to listen in. We rotate who picks the book and we have no theme- if its your turn to pick, choose whatever you want. Take a look back at the variety of books we read before. I have read several books that I enjoyed and would have never picked up had someone not recommended them to me. (Specifically the Vampire Porn book- the book that drew the largest crowd!) If you are interested in picking the next book, let me know and we will put your name in the drawing hat. Then you get to plan the meeting! I can certainly help with ideas if you're in a pinch. We tried to stick with the general theme of the book- garden party, haunted lunch at Melting Pot, French restaurant, etc. The meetings are generally about once every 4-6 weeks. Please remember that we all have such different schedules and we may not be able to make the meeting on a date you can come. But you will be able to talk about the book around the water cooler (or trough)!

Now on to the good stuff! This month Clarissa has chosen:

The Woman in Cabin 10. Written by Ruth Ware
September 14th, Details Coming Soon!

It looks as if this book takes place on a cruise ship. Soooo, I'm hoping Clarissa is planning lunch on the high seas! So check it out, download it, purchase it, listen to it. Whatever your current method of reading is these days! Stay tuned for meeting details but expect the date of September 14th! And welcome back Bookworms!!
